World of Warcraft: Forever launched worldwide on November 4, 2026, inviting players into an expanded version of the original Azeroth. Blizzard describes it as a permanent home alongside modern World of Warcraft and Classic rather than a temporary season. It begins with a level 1 to 60 adventure and reworks familiar destinations without simply reproducing the old progression path.
In its official launch announcement, Blizzard details new zones, more than 1,000 new quests, nine five-player dungeons and an account-wide Legacy system. Those are the highlights that matter most for players deciding how to jump in.
An expanded version of original Azeroth
Forever stretches the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor beyond their familiar boundaries. Among the additions are Mount Hyjal, the Riverglades, Shen’dralas and Zephras Isle. The Riverglades contains more than 150 quests and is intended for characters in the middle levels. Zephras Isle provides a level 1 to 12 skybound starting experience, offering a new alternative to the standard opening routes.
Blizzard places the game in a reimagined historical period of Azeroth rather than asking players to revisit every event in an unchanged order. The intent is to keep the feeling of original WoW while providing stories, encounters and systems that can continue expanding.
All nine new dungeons
The new five-player dungeons span levels 13 through 60. In the Eastern Kingdoms, Blizzard lists Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Excavation Site, City of Dalaran, The Drowned City and Krol’dok Stronghold. Kalimdor adds Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper’s Terrace.
The official dungeon guide provides the recommended level ranges. Hall of Thanes opens the lineup at levels 13 to 18, while Shaper’s Terrace is aimed at characters around levels 58 to 60. The spread means dungeon play is part of the leveling experience rather than something reserved for the endgame.
What the Legacy system changes
Blizzard is introducing the Legacy system as account-wide horizontal progression. Rather than simply raising character power, Legacy Challenges, Perks and Rewards give players goals tied to exploration and activities. Blizzard says you can benefit on one character, although playing multiple classes or professions remains an option.
That design could make returning to older zones feel worthwhile even after reaching the level cap. The practical value of any particular reward will depend on the content you choose to play, so consult the in-game system instead of assuming a faster leveling track is the main purpose.
Raids arrive after launch
The first raid tier does not open on launch day. Blizzard schedules Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair for December 9, giving new characters time to reach level 60 and prepare. Its larger roadmap calls for more dungeons, quests, PvP updates and other evergreen content.
Where Forever fits in World of Warcraft
Forever is a distinct permanent experience from modern WoW and WoW Classic. Blizzard also highlights player choice through gamepad support and visual presentation options. The best first step is to read the official launch guidance and decide whether the revised level 1 to 60 world appeals to you. For players who wanted the atmosphere of early Azeroth with new places to explore, that is the clearest promise of this launch.
